Who we are
Spadeshire (“we”, “our”) operates www.spadeshire.co.uk. We provide gardening advice and guides for UK gardeners, and a directory of gardeners and landscapers by location. This policy explains how we handle your information when you use our website.
Information we collect
We may collect the following.
- Account data. If you register to view gardener contact details, we store your name, email address, and a hashed password. We use this to manage your account and let you log in.
- Reports. If you report a gardener (e.g. wrong number, wrong location, or another issue), we store your report type, any message you provide, and link the report to your account and the gardener. We use this to review and improve our listings.
- Technical and usage data. We may collect your IP address, browser type, and how you use the site (e.g. pages visited) for security and to improve the site. Our server and any analytics we use may log this.
- Cookies and session data. We use cookies and session storage for essential operation (e.g. keeping you logged in, “remember me”, and security). You can control cookies in your browser settings.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services that may process data in connection with your use of our site.
- Cloudflare Turnstile. On our login and registration forms we use Turnstile to help prevent abuse. Cloudflare may process your IP address and other technical data to run the challenge. Their privacy policy applies to that processing.
- Maps. On gardener profile pages we show a map using OpenStreetMap (via Leaflet). Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap; we do not send your personal data to them. No account or tracking is required to view the map.
- Gardener listing data. Information about gardeners (name, address, phone, website, rating, location) is obtained by us from third-party sources (e.g. Google) and stored on our systems. We do not pass your personal data to those sources when you view a gardener’s profile.
How we use your information
We use the information above to run and improve the website, provide the gardener directory and contact access to registered users, process and act on reports, secure the site (including via Turnstile), and respond to enquiries. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Reports are kept for as long as needed to review listings and for legitimate business purposes. Technical and access logs may be retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data (see “Your rights” below).
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights including access, correction, erasure, restriction, and objection. You can contact us to exercise these or with any questions about this policy. If you have a complaint, you may also contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
